The Oculus Quest 2 VR headset is likely to get even more affordable.
Following the release of the Quest 3, the price of Oculus Quest 2 VR headset has been permanently reduced to $249.
According to a Quest Blog post noticed by TechCrunch, Meta is permanently lowering the price of its Oculus Quest 2 VR headset to $250 with the release of the Quest 3. The Oculus Quest 2 VR headset has already been on sale for that price since Black Friday, but the increased retail price could mean even greater prices for the previous-generation device.
“We knew we could do even more to make VR more affordable and bring even more people into the community… that’s why we’re permanently lowering prices on Oculus Quest 2 and its accessories, effective January 1,” the business announced. In other words, the 256GB Oculus Quest 2 costs $300, while the 128GB variant is currently $250. Additionally, Meta is lowering the cost of reconditioned units to $230 and $270, respectively. You can find comparable prices on Amazon.
Oculus Quest 2 VR headset accessories are also cheaper, with the Elite Strap with battery dropping the most, from $120 to $90. The normal Elite Strap is now $50, the carrying bag is $45, the Active Pack is $60, and the Oculus Quest 2 Fit Pack is now $40.
The Oculus Quest 2 VR headset quickly became one of the most popular VR headsets due to its low $300 launch price, but the excitement faded when Meta raised the price to $400 in mid-2022. The $500 Quest 3 was a significant advancement, with improved screens and lenses, a more compact design, faster performance, mixed reality cameras, and other features.
Despite the fact that there are hundreds of VR titles available, including Resident Evil 4, the new Roblox game, and the ever-popular Beat Saber, the Oculus Quest 2 is still an excellent entrée into the world of VR. It’s now even more appealing at that price, and we might see it fall even lower through sales over the following year.
